The Mantis Shield is a single-use barrier set made specifically for the VELscope Mantis system. Each unit pairs two components:
Together they cover the critical contact areas of the handpiece during a patient examination, helping minimize the risk of biological contamination between patients.
The Mantis relies on blue-light fluorescence as one of its three visualization modes. A standard plastic cover can fluoresce under that light and distort what you see. The Mantis Shield lens cap is engineered to be non-fluorescent and antifog, so it protects the optics while keeping your view of the tissue clean and accurate.
Shields are designed for simple, per-patient use: apply a fresh barrier set before the exam, then remove it afterward for easy disinfection of the device. Because the lens cap and handpiece barrier come packaged together, there’s nothing to assemble — your hygiene team grabs one set per patient and moves on.
That makes shields a recurring consumable, much like any single-use barrier in your operatory. It’s worth keeping them on your standing supply list so screening never pauses between appointments.
